Let your script drive your stock footage choice! Review your script for mentions of emotion, setting or use of metaphors to find intuitive places to add stock content.

If your script mentions an emotion, show people.

Example: Here, the script is about the ease of using Google Workspace. A series of stock footage showing relaxed users emphasizes this message. See Full Video & Duplicate

SCRIPT: By integrating all of its apps, Google Workspace makes it easier to work across them and collaborate with others. You can share files and documents with anyone, anywhere, and in real-time. This feature is particularly helpful for remote teams who need to work together on projects.

If your script mentions a place, show settings and landscapes.

Example: Here, the script discusses building hospitals. The use of stock images and footage of hospitals throughout really sets the scene for the viewer. See Full Video & Duplicate

SCRIPT:

Today, we're diving into Hospital Construction Standards. Hospitals are not like any other building. They are designed with a critical purpose to save lives, and we play a pivotal role in making that happen.

SCRIPT: Together, we can make a real difference and achieve our sustainability goals. Remember, small actions can add up to make a big impact.

Bonus Tip: If your video has a theme, use a stock footage background to add texture and movement to a scene.

A slightly more advanced way to use stock footage is to place it as a moving and dynamic background for the rest of your scene to be placed on top of.

Example: In this scene a video of rotating cells is used in the background to create movement and texture that aligns with the theme of the video: infectious disease.

SCRIPT: Welcome to Greenview Medical Center. As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence in care, this short training video will guide you through the 3 key steps on how to approach situations with patients who might have a highly contagious disease.

<aside> 💡 Note: Textures can become overwhelming if used alongside too many other elements. Be mindful of your reasoning behind selecting a texture. When using videos as a background, ensure they are not excessively distracting, that they loop smoothly, and maintain sufficient contrast with any elements placed on top of them.
